One Year Later...

The title is a bit of an inside joke for comic book readers, but the thing is...I started this blog a little over a year ago. I think the one year anniversary was last week.

What a year. I think I've evolved more in the last year then I have in the past 5. My mindset has changed about a lot of things and it feels like more and more avenues are opening everyday. I can honestly say life's pretty good right now(despite the fact that I still hate my job and now we have a Conservative government).

Moving on...

I did this last year and I have to do it again.

Superbowl Predictions:

Ok, so we're looking at the Pittsburgh Steelers taking on the Seattle Seahawks.

It might come as a surprise to a lot of people that the Steelers are actually one of my favorite sports teams. My Bears are my heart and soul and I think everyone assumes that I bleed blue and orange to the core and that no other team could even come close to comparing...and for the most part that absolutely true! That being said, I love the history and story of the Steelers. Coach Bill Cowher is my all time favorite football coach(sorry Ditka, but Bill is the man) and always thought he was a Bears coach waiting to happen(*sigh*). Ask Marc, as he's heard more of me rambling about this then almost any other Football subject. The Bus is a Detroit boy, so that automatically makes him one of my boys(just as an aside, I spoke with someone recently *Hint*Rhymes with Hephanie* who asked what it is that makes someone one of my boys, and I've been thinking about it a lot lately and decided that I need to make a blog entry about it. So you have something to look forward to). Ben Roethlisberger, in my opinion, is just as good or better then Tom Brady. A lot of people talk about the rivalry between Brady and Peyton, but I think in the long run it's gonna be Ben and Tom who have that career rivalry.

That was the longest run on paragraph ever. I love the Steelers. Next.

The Seahawks are that little team that nobody cared about and then come out of no where to bite you on the @ss. Two years ago or so my buddy Rod(whose wife, Julie, has started a new blog about their baby Andrea, which can be found HERE. Check it out it's cute.) and I were watching Sunday Night Football. I forget who exactly was playing, but for sure it was the Seahawks. The announcers kept talking about their running back, some guy named Shaun Alexander and how he so enjoyed playing late night games that he promised to do something special that night. He then went on to score(I think) 5 touchdowns that game, and had close to 300 yards. It's been uphill since then, as he's become one of the premier running backs in the NFL. Since that game, I've followed Seattle closely and have just been amazed. They have one of the most explosive offences in football and a defense that's just incredible(although they couldn't hold a coin to my Bears).

The Superbowl is going to be a hell of a game. Both teams have strong defenses(I think the Steelers have a little bit of an edge there) and great offences(but Seattle is a little more explosive).

So my pick?

I think the team that screws up first is the team that's going to lose. Given the explosive nature of Seattle, my pick are the Steelers...but Seattle will be back sooner then later.

Score: 28-21 Steelers

Ok done for now.

PS: I want to take the time to thank everyone who reads this regularly, with a special thanks to Jules and Peggy. Those two are, by far, the most loyal readers I have and are continually on my @ss about the lack of updates. If you notice a lot of updates in a short period of time, it's usually because one of them has given me $hit. Thanks girls.

PSS: If you follow Ye Olde Blog at all, I'd love to hear from you and get your comments. Please don't hesitate to email me and say hello. You can do so by clicking HERE.

Short Post...

Ok real quickie:

It's voting day in Canada. Get off your @ss and vote. If you don't vote, you don't get to b!tch when things get screwed up.

My pollster was a really crazy old guy I work with from time to time. Fitting for his character, he was crazy at the polls, making a big deal of the fact that I needed to bring my voting card thing home with me and destroy it there because they could get in trouble for going threw the garbage and taking the information off the cards or some such thing. Dude's a nutjob(and he's got the hots for Peggy).

I found a song called "The Internet is for Porn" over the weekend. It's totally brilliant. It is taken from the soundtrack to a Broadway play called "Avenue Q", which is a parody of Sesame Street(puppets and all). This might be the first time in my life I want to see a musical.

All for now. More soon.

$hit, We're in trouble...

Short post:

I've been to the local mall a lot in recent weeks. It's a cheap place for a date(food and movies within walking distance, and for two people that don't drive, that rules) and I'm always enthused to spend money I don't have.

But I've noticed something really really scary. Everything is closing. First it was Spencer's, then it was Fossil and Tuesday I found out National Sports is going down.

This sucks ass. The last time I remember something like this happening was the mid 80's and early 90's when this city pretty well died because of the automotive dry up.

This is the first time in a while I've been kind of scared about the future financially.

Scary, scary times ahead.

PS: If you haven't seen "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe", get out there and see it. Brilliant fun, for young and old(They should use that in a commercial, that would rule!).

PSS: Jules gets a gold star for being the only person to fill out the meme thingie.

Time Off...

I haven't worked more then a few hours in the last month, and I have to be honest...

It's freaking awesome.

I've been able to sleep in, get a lot of crap around the house done and had a lot of time to spend with friends. It's just sweet.

One of my bestfriends, Ken, has lent me his laptop since my desktop is pretty much dead. It's weird getting used to a laptop. Using the thingie instead of a mouse is just a pain, but I'm getting there. It's fun.

This is one of those things that bug me about blogging. I don't really have anything to say but I feel the need to post...so I post about useless crap that no one cares about(as opposed to the useless crap that I care about).

I'll have more to talk about someday...I think...hope...ok...

Happy New Year...I think.

So I know what you are thinking. It's like 5AM, on New Year's and I'm posting on my blog...so I must be drunk.

Right?

Alas, WRONG!

Unfortunately, I've been under the weather since the start of the Holiday Season, with a major breakout of an alcohol related flu that has lasted more then three days and left me in no state to go out and be Merry on New Year's.

I just had the itch to post, and since I haven't done so in a while I thought I would kind of catch up on where I am.

First and foremost, work sucks...still. Yay.

A lot has gone on in my personal life since the last time I updated this regularly. I started dating and it was scary for a while there.

I met a lot of nice girls, some umm not so nice girls and one very scary girl.

I've been dating one girl in particular for over a month now and things are going well. After everything that has happened, my frame of mind is to take things as they come and to ride this wave where ever it takes me.

I know that's just common sense, but after being head over heels and blindly following my heart, I think my new frame of mind will get me further in the long run.

My Aunt and Cousin are still living here. It's bearable, but there are times when I would really like to just tell them to shut the f#ck up and get out of my house.

My Mom is still my Mom. We have good days and we have bad days. She had knee surgery last week and has been really retarded since. The day she had the surgery she was quite literally jumping on her bum leg, just because she felt "so damn good." Modern drugs are a wonderful thing...until they wear off and she was unable to walk. So much for feeling "so damn good."

Comics rule right now. I find myself being more and more drawn in to DC's Infinite Crisis. The whole line is leading to this big event and you can just feel it. It's spectacular.

I'm reading a book called "Men of Tomorrow" which is about the inception of the comic book industry. It's a really great read. Some of the stories within are heart breaking, some are funny, and some are kind of perverted(read up on the creator of Wonder Women sometime).

Wrestling is still showing it's ups and downs. TNA's product is really good, but lacking that umpf storyline or character to really show that they have what it takes to be a super contender. WWE has weeks that are great and then weeks where I question why I am still a fan of the product at all(Dr. Hienie anyone?).

The Chicago Bears, my other passion in life, are kicking ass and taking names. We won our division and got a first round bye and a home field playoff spot. I don't think there is a team in the NFL that can beat us at home, but I don't know about the road. Time will tell on that one. But for now...GO BEARS!!!

My computer is about to die. I think my motherboard is fried. I spent most of tonight looking at barebones systems. If she can't handle the load over the next few days, I'm thinking I'm in the market for a new machine in the near future.

I'm not sure what else to write about. My one New Year's Resolution to try and be a little more vigilante with updating this...but since I said that you know it's not going to happen...HAW!

Well again, Happy New Year and I hope the season gave you every gift you hoped for.

Talk to you all again soon.

Luthor...werd
