I'm Dead Sexah...

Remember those pictures I was talking about a few posts back. Welp I them posted on Ye Olde Moblog, and one of them was picked as Textamerica.com's Artistic Shot of the Day.

I rule.

What else...

umm...The dog search is still going. My dogs from the pound in Detroit got adopted. Part of me is still hoping that it's an elaborate ruse and someone I know went and got the puppy for me. They were just SO cute. I hope their new caretakers treat them as well or better then I would have.

I've also discovered that info about these hybrid/designer dogs is pretty hard to come by. Almost everything I've read has been negative, but everything that I've read sounds like it's coming from a bitter breeder who's pissy because their pooch of choice isn't the current it dog. I think I've found a total of 4 breeders in North America that offer "ShiChis"(which is what a Shih Tzu/Chihuahua mix is called, apparently) through the web.

I've spent the VAST majority of my free time lately searching the web for dogs and I gotta tell ya, I ain't impressed! Petfinder(which only covers pounds and animal rescues) is the best of the bunch, and the rest, frankly, suck sour frog ass. Most of them don't even have a "search our site" thingie. What the hell is up with that?

I've been totally obsessing on the dog thing lately(ask my girlfriend and the people at work, they'll tell ya).

Rented the movie MirrorMask last week. I liked it a lot. It's kinda artsy weird but faerie tale like but dark and creepy too. Just a cool flick. Plus the chick in it is hot...

Well...Another ramble post comes to an end.

Off to read some Wizard and Mac World Monthly then hit the hay.

Fancy New Title...

So after seeing that my title was all messed up and knowing that I was going to model for some photos I thought why not kill two birds with one stone.

So up above is the new title image for Luthor's Story of a World Gone Retarded. If you enjoy it, all praise go to Steph.

Let me know what you think.

I Want A Dog...

For the last few months my Mom has been telling me she wanted a dog, and I've listed off the hundred and three reasons why we shouldn't get one.

See growing up, I always had some kind of animal around and almost always they came to tragic endings...

While I was growing up, there was Rusty. Rusty was a cat, that thought he was a person and acted like a lion. Rusty was born a few days before I was and we grew up together. Rusty was the closest thing I ever had to a Lassie. I have memories of Rusty following me to school and waiting for me when I got out. I have one very strong memory of Rusty coming to my rescue while I was being chased by two dogs. He was an awesome animal. Rusty stories always come up whenever my family gets together, simply because he was such a character. Rusty was poisoned on a Christmas Eve when I was 12 years old and literally died in my arms on the way to the Vets.

In my early teens, My Mom got on a small dog kick and decided she wanted two small dogs. We got Griffen(My dog, Male Maltese) and Mitsu(her dog, Female Shih Tzu). Since she was fairly new to the idea of purebred dogs, my Mom looked in the paper for the cheapest little dogs she could find. We got them and they were great little dogs, but they kept having health problems. Mitsu didn't have a tail, Griffen eyes would run until his face was completely stained, both of them had problems with teeth, etc etc. We took them in one day for a routine check up and the Vet said two words that I'll never forget. "Puppy Mill." Within two years, both of them died. Mitsu started getting tumors on her back and after having several surgeries, didn't make it through. Griffen was healthier, but still had constant problems. They discovered a tumor on his hind leg, and died on the operating table.

Then there was Dede. Dede was a champion show Shih Tzu. She started to develop eye ulcers because of the stress involved in showing and her breeder(Donna) decided that she needed a new home. My Mom worked with this women and had told her the story of Mitsu and Griffen. Donna told my Mom that we could come out to her place and meet the dog, and if she approved we could adopt. The story goes that as soon as Donna saw me, she decided that she wasn't going to give any dogs to me. I was a big scary looking guy and there was just no way in hell that she was going to allow one of her babies to leave with me. I remember walking in and sitting down and this little tiny black ball of fur just sitting at my feet. I leaned over to pet her, she got up on her hind legs and licked my nose. I picked her up and it was love from then on. Donna saw that and quickly changed her mind and decided to drop the usual fees associated with adopting one of her animals. I loved Dede more then I have any animal, ever, in my life. She was my dog from the moment we met. Dede was my best friend during my toughest years. She was never far from my side. We had Dede for almost 10 years(she was 4 when we got her) and she never had any health issues until her last year. She was starting to go blind and slowed down a lot in her last year. The Vet said she was healthy enough for an old dog but with her losing her sight we needed to be extra cautious. I had gone away for the weekend and I returned home to find out that she had fallen down a flight of stairs and didn't survive the fall. She was my dog and I never even got the chance to say good-bye. I still miss her to this day.

The loss of Dede was the main reason I didn't want another dog. I don't think there has been another loss in my life that was as hard to take as losing Dede and I didn't ever want to have to go through a loss like that again.

Then a few weeks ago, Steph and I stayed out at her friends place. The place was a veritable zoo. There was 2 cats, 2 rats and...3 dogs.

While we were there, I kind of remembered why I loved dogs so much and how much fun they are to have around.

I miss playing.

I miss the mischievousness.

I miss coming home to that little furball so happy to see me she doesn't know what to do with herself.

I miss the companionship.

I want a dog.

So I gave up my battle and decided that I would say sure to my Mom's requests. So I told my Mom this...and she says she doesn't want a dog.

This is where I discovered I can be a bit obsessive compulsive. Right after I had that conversation with my Mom I started looking on the 'net for dogs. I found a group that I loved. Click HERE to see them. I should my Mom that picture and she's decided she wants a dog again too! I emailed the Home Fur-Ever about getting one of them and they basically told me that I'm out of luck. That I could apply for one of them, but they don't adopt out of state as a rule(I'm gonna have a bigger blog about pet adoption).

So here I've been since, looking for that little dog, close to home that wants to become part of my life. I can't wait.

Support Open Source...

I've been using some open source software of late, and decided I would share some of the links.

Everyone knows I use Firefox and support is completely. When ever I'm asked what software people should install on new machines, Firefox is always the first thing I say.

http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/

Mozilla also has an open source email client called Thunderbird. I currently use it on my machine(Lappy is all about the open source). I haven't done a lot with it yet, but I know it is capable of a lot. If you use news groups, this thing is great.

http://www.mozilla.com/thunderbird/

On my old machine, I had MS Office. MS Office...umm...sucks. It's big and bulky and not user friendly. On the Lappy, I decided to go with something different, so I got OpenOffice. It's just like MS Office, except it's not bulky and a lot more user friendly. Another big plus is that it easily opens other formats like Word Perfect.

http://www.openoffice.org/

Photoshop costs a gazillion dollars. It's easy to use and it's just awesome, bit no one can afford it. Gimpshop is an alternative. While not as pretty, it's a pretty good alternative.

http://plasticbugs.com/?page_id=294

If you've read this before you know that I'm a big Linux supporter. There are all kinds of Linux out there, but I prefer Ubuntu.

http://www.ubuntu.com/

If you use something and aren't happy with it chances are that there is an open source alternative out there. Google it, and try it. What have you got to lose? It's all free.

One Year Later...

The title is a bit of an inside joke for comic book readers, but the thing is...I started this blog a little over a year ago. I think the one year anniversary was last week.

What a year. I think I've evolved more in the last year then I have in the past 5. My mindset has changed about a lot of things and it feels like more and more avenues are opening everyday. I can honestly say life's pretty good right now(despite the fact that I still hate my job and now we have a Conservative government).

Moving on...

I did this last year and I have to do it again.

Superbowl Predictions:

Ok, so we're looking at the Pittsburgh Steelers taking on the Seattle Seahawks.

It might come as a surprise to a lot of people that the Steelers are actually one of my favorite sports teams. My Bears are my heart and soul and I think everyone assumes that I bleed blue and orange to the core and that no other team could even come close to comparing...and for the most part that absolutely true! That being said, I love the history and story of the Steelers. Coach Bill Cowher is my all time favorite football coach(sorry Ditka, but Bill is the man) and always thought he was a Bears coach waiting to happen(*sigh*). Ask Marc, as he's heard more of me rambling about this then almost any other Football subject. The Bus is a Detroit boy, so that automatically makes him one of my boys(just as an aside, I spoke with someone recently *Hint*Rhymes with Hephanie* who asked what it is that makes someone one of my boys, and I've been thinking about it a lot lately and decided that I need to make a blog entry about it. So you have something to look forward to). Ben Roethlisberger, in my opinion, is just as good or better then Tom Brady. A lot of people talk about the rivalry between Brady and Peyton, but I think in the long run it's gonna be Ben and Tom who have that career rivalry.

That was the longest run on paragraph ever. I love the Steelers. Next.

The Seahawks are that little team that nobody cared about and then come out of no where to bite you on the @ss. Two years ago or so my buddy Rod(whose wife, Julie, has started a new blog about their baby Andrea, which can be found HERE. Check it out it's cute.) and I were watching Sunday Night Football. I forget who exactly was playing, but for sure it was the Seahawks. The announcers kept talking about their running back, some guy named Shaun Alexander and how he so enjoyed playing late night games that he promised to do something special that night. He then went on to score(I think) 5 touchdowns that game, and had close to 300 yards. It's been uphill since then, as he's become one of the premier running backs in the NFL. Since that game, I've followed Seattle closely and have just been amazed. They have one of the most explosive offences in football and a defense that's just incredible(although they couldn't hold a coin to my Bears).

The Superbowl is going to be a hell of a game. Both teams have strong defenses(I think the Steelers have a little bit of an edge there) and great offences(but Seattle is a little more explosive).

So my pick?

I think the team that screws up first is the team that's going to lose. Given the explosive nature of Seattle, my pick are the Steelers...but Seattle will be back sooner then later.

Score: 28-21 Steelers

Ok done for now.

Luthor...werd

Short Post...

Ok real quickie:

It's voting day in Canada. Get off your @ss and vote. If you don't vote, you don't get to b!tch when things get screwed up.

My pollster was a really crazy old guy I work with from time to time. Fitting for his character, he was crazy at the polls, making a big deal of the fact that I needed to bring my voting card thing home with me and destroy it there because they could get in trouble for going threw the garbage and taking the information off the cards or some such thing. Dude's a nutjob(and he's got the hots for Peggy).

I found a song called "The Internet is for Porn" over the weekend. It's totally brilliant. It is taken from the soundtrack to a Broadway play called "Avenue Q", which is a parody of Sesame Street(puppets and all). This might be the first time in my life I want to see a musical.

All for now. More soon.

$hit, We're in trouble...

Short post:

I've been to the local mall a lot in recent weeks. It's a cheap place for a date(food and movies within walking distance, and for two people that don't drive, that rules) and I'm always enthused to spend money I don't have.

But I've noticed something really really scary. Everything is closing. First it was Spencer's, then it was Fossil and Tuesday I found out National Sports is going down.

This sucks ass. The last time I remember something like this happening was the mid 80's and early 90's when this city pretty well died because of the automotive dry up.

This is the first time in a while I've been kind of scared about the future financially.

Scary, scary times ahead.

'slater,

Luthor...werd

PS: If you haven't seen "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe", get out there and see it. Brilliant fun, for young and old(They should use that in a commercial, that would rule!).

PSS: Jules gets a gold star for being the only person to fill out the meme thingie.

Time Off...

I haven't worked more then a few hours in the last month, and I have to be honest...

It's freaking awesome.

I've been able to sleep in, get a lot of crap around the house done and had a lot of time to spend with friends. It's just sweet.

One of my bestfriends, Ken, has lent me his laptop since my desktop is pretty much dead. It's weird getting used to a laptop. Using the thingie instead of a mouse is just a pain, but I'm getting there. It's fun.

This is one of those things that bug me about blogging. I don't really have anything to say but I feel the need to post...so I post about useless crap that no one cares about(as opposed to the useless crap that I care about).

I'll have more to talk about someday...I think...hope...ok...

Happy New Year...I think.

So I know what you are thinking. It's like 5AM, on New Year's and I'm posting on my blog...so I must be drunk.

Right?

Alas, WRONG!

Unfortunately, I've been under the weather since the start of the Holiday Season, with a major breakout of an alcohol related flu that has lasted more then three days and left me in no state to go out and be Merry on New Year's.

I just had the itch to post, and since I haven't done so in a while I thought I would kind of catch up on where I am.

First and foremost, work sucks...still. Yay.

A lot has gone on in my personal life since the last time I updated this regularly. I started dating and it was scary for a while there.

I met a lot of nice girls, some umm not so nice girls and one very scary girl.

I've been dating one girl in particular for over a month now and things are going well. After everything that has happened, my frame of mind is to take things as they come and to ride this wave where ever it takes me.

I know that's just common sense, but after being head over heels and blindly following my heart, I think my new frame of mind will get me further in the long run.

My Aunt and Cousin are still living here. It's bearable, but there are times when I would really like to just tell them to shut the f#ck up and get out of my house.

My Mom is still my Mom. We have good days and we have bad days. She had knee surgery last week and has been really retarded since. The day she had the surgery she was quite literally jumping on her bum leg, just because she felt "so damn good." Modern drugs are a wonderful thing...until they wear off and she was unable to walk. So much for feeling "so damn good."

Comics rule right now. I find myself being more and more drawn in to DC's Infinite Crisis. The whole line is leading to this big event and you can just feel it. It's spectacular.

I'm reading a book called "Men of Tomorrow" which is about the inception of the comic book industry. It's a really great read. Some of the stories within are heart breaking, some are funny, and some are kind of perverted(read up on the creator of Wonder Women sometime).

Wrestling is still showing it's ups and downs. TNA's product is really good, but lacking that umpf storyline or character to really show that they have what it takes to be a super contender. WWE has weeks that are great and then weeks where I question why I am still a fan of the product at all(Dr. Hienie anyone?).

The Chicago Bears, my other passion in life, are kicking ass and taking names. We won our division and got a first round bye and a home field playoff spot. I don't think there is a team in the NFL that can beat us at home, but I don't know about the road. Time will tell on that one. But for now...GO BEARS!!!

My computer is about to die. I think my motherboard is fried. I spent most of tonight looking at barebones systems. If she can't handle the load over the next few days, I'm thinking I'm in the market for a new machine in the near future.

I'm not sure what else to write about. My one New Year's Resolution to try and be a little more vigilante with updating this...but since I said that you know it's not going to happen...HAW!

Well again, Happy New Year and I hope the season gave you every gift you hoped for.

Talk to you all again soon.

Buck 65 - Wicked and Weird

Driving with a yellow dog, I95
He's got a smile on his face and big shiny eyes
Up at a decent hour, I never ate yet
Got a little Johnny Cash in the old tape deck
Nothing in the trunk but some base ball gloves
a pair of jumper cables and a set of golf clubs
blanket on the back seat we're in rough shape
sunroof held on with a bit of duck tape
looking for a gas station, better make a list
Fill'er up with regular, I need to take a piss
sexy girl air freshener, snacks and a pinwheel
top up the fluids, clean the bugs off the windshield
not a care in the world, not a how, and a why
no destination, not a cloud in the sky
back on the road not a moment too soon
dish ran away with some other spoon

Wicked & wierd I'm a road hog with an old dog
singing slow songs trying to hold on
Wicked & wierd I'm a rat fich
trying to practice doing back flips on your mattress
(Repeat x2)

Hole in the muffler, ghosts on the shoulder
cough drops, loose change in the beverage holder
to roll down the window you gotta use a wrench
Been thinking about brushing up on my french
Right there in the glove box, if you should look
You'll find 40 parking tickets
And a copy of the Good Book
Don't bother looking, you'll never find me
I'm starting from scratch and leaving trouble behind me

Wicked & wierd I'm a road hog with an old dog
singing slow songs trying to hold on
Wicked & wierd I'm a rat fich
trying to practice doing back flips on your mattress
(Repeat x2)

Wicked, wicked, wicked and weird

Christ almighty, there's a rattle in the wheel well
Dog fell asleep and man, I don't feel well
But all I need is a half decent breakfast
And I'll be back at it, dirty and reckless

5 o'clock shadow, lips like mudflaps
hands like eagle's talons, eyes like hub caps
The further I get, I keep going faster
Whispers in the wind, and cows in the pasture
I have no plans and nothing to prove either
I eat out of a bag and sleep in a movie theatre

The highway's a story teller, I just write it down
Already been beaten, there's no way to fight it now
I just kick back and keep warm on the cold days
And laugh 'cause it ain't like it was in the old days
I figure when I make it to the heavenly gates
They'll be working on my car and playing 78's

Wicked & wierd I'm aroad hog with an old dog
singing slow songs trying to hold on
Wicked & wierd I'm a rat fich
trying to practice doing back flips on your mattress
(Repeat x2)

One of Those Days...

*Sigh.*

I woke up, freezing, seriously lacking sleep and stubbed my toe in the bathroom.

There was no hot water for my shower.

My cab driver, who just had surgery on his ear last week, went in to gory detail about the puss he found on his pillow this morning.

I get to work and have to listen to a creepy old lady argue(like an old married couple) with one of the guys.

We start work and two of the three battery guns are broken.

One of the new guys tells me how he parked in a tow away zone and needed to move his car...which was on the other side of the plant.

My partner gets sick and needs to go home.

I had to argue with the battery gun repair guy about what was wrong with the gun(I've since found out I know nothing about the battery guns and when the program isn't working properly it's really the person operaters fault, not the $hitty programing on the gun. Good to know.)

The afternoon shift guy didn't show up.

I'm starting to doubt myself as far as dating stuff goes. Maybe I'm not ready.

It's still cold and its supposed to snow tomorrow.

I feel crappy.

Oh what a beautiful morning...

Longest Touch Down in NFL...HISTORY!!!

So Sunday I was in Chicago. Bears/Niners. Bears won. Wooha!

Nathan Vasher
ran a missed field goal back for a touchdown. The longest touchdown...ever(in the NFL). And I was there to see it. Ahh Yeah.

I was and am stoked about it. I love my Bears. Seeing them win at home, surrounded by fellow Bears fans...just friggin' sweet!

Eddie Guerrero died this past weekend. I went back and forth between being a big fan of his and not liking him at all, but no matter what he always seemed like a really good person, away from the ring. There's a really good article HERE that perfectly describes how I feel. Viva La Raza! You will not be forgotten Eddie.

I'm kind of blah today. I'll have more soon.

Dating Is Scary...

So...

A few weeks ago I decided it was time to get back on the horse, so to speak, and I joined an online dating service.

The site that I've been using has you put up pictures of yourself, write a description of who you are and then post it for the world to see. After you've done this you can look through other people's profiles and if you like what you see, send them a message and vice versa. This site has a built in IM feature as well, so if the person wants to, they can IM you and you can talk on that.

This whole concept is totally mindboggling to me. While I'm not a really shy person, I am pretty bashful and just randomly picking people to talk to really freaks me out.

I've been speaking with about 6 girls regularly, and I've taken out 2 of them. Both were nice enough people, but neither of them is the kind of person I see myself with. I'm most likely going to go out with at least 2 more of them in the next few weeks. It's a total trip, man.

I don't know that I've ever really dated before. Anyone that I've gone out with, 99% of the time, has been someone that I've had another kind of relationship with. It's just so strange.

I'll let you guys know more about that in time.

This weekend I'm off to Chicago to see my beloved Bears take(down) on the 49ers. Marc, Rich and I are leaving Saturday morning and returning Monday. I'm so stoked. I've been working so much lately that I forget what it's like having more then a day off in a row. Having multiple days off and going to see my favorite team play just rocks. So everyone needs to make a quick prayer, to whatever it is you pray to, that the Bears totally dominate the 49ers on Sunday. Thanks!

I've been hurting for bucks(mainly because of the whole "dates" thing) for the past couple of weeks, so I haven't really been able to pick up as many comics as I usually do. So Comic Of The Week is on hold, it will return, probably changed somehow. There's a lot of really good stuff out there right now. Check out Supreme Power, Powers, Infinite Crisis, Justice and a whole hoard of stuff. Comics are really going through somekind of maturation process right now, and the books(both art and story) have never been better.

If you aren't watching My Name is Earl and Curb Your Enthusiasm, you need to give your head a shake(Peggy). There's not much on TV that I follow, those two shows are my MUST SEE TV.

Well this was a long mostly uninteresting post. I'm kind of drained. It was a rather late night and an ungodly early morning. I'll be posting more soon. Working 7 days a week at a thankless job tends to kill any desire to do something you enjoy.
